Tom - my Mushroom Picking Art Doll - FOR SALE

Tom has been enjoying the beautiful colours and scents of the autumn. His basket is full of mushrooms and he is looking forward to an evening in front a log fire looking through his mushroom books to identify the content of his basket. Except the yellow ones, they will be sizzling in the pan for his supper.

I love mushroom picking and the inspiration for Tom came when I was doing just that. The little wicker basket is delightful and I made the mushrooms using poly clay.

This is Moira!

Me and my husband are building a house at the moment and I feel like I'm never out of my dungarees. I started to make Moira. Her outfit is made from reused materials and she has a big head of red hair. The base is made from wood and working together with my dad we experimented with plaster and sand. After this had dried I covered it with a layer of lacquer to fixate the sand and stones. My dad is very good at making real size fences and making them this small was no exception! Deer Stalker Art Doll - FOR SALE

A couple of weeks ago I opened the curtains only to stand eye to eye with a deer - a doe, with huge dark eyes and lovely slender feminine body. Bliss, the wonderful encounters with nature you come upon when you live in the countryside of the Scottish Highlands. The I saw the animal had the last of my powder-pink New Dawn roses in her mouth. She looked at me while chewing and then turned her interest to my geraniums. The witch!

This is my stalker, although I doubt he could help me in my deer-trouble. Mr McDermit has bought all the gear and is determined to be successful in the art of stalking after accepting an invitation from his boss to come up to the Highlands in the search of the perfect Royal Stag. Mr McDermit is cold and wet but he has just caught a glimpse of some antlers over a heather hill and is slowly making his way there....

Josephine is a willful lady. She does not always keep her word but in the end she (usually) does the right thing.

Josephine is sitting on a foot stool dressed with a fabric from the Swedish designer Josef Frank (a favourite of mine) and I have picked up the colours of this fantastic fabric in Josephine's outfit. From the purple tights to the vibrant red lips.

I never like to give my dolls to much of a history. Naturally the process of creating every piece bring to life what/who I think they are but I want to leave most of it out so that you can make up your own stories. I like to think these dolls make wonderful conversation pieces - so get talking!

This is the first "DoggyBag"-Ladies I have made but I had so much fun creating them I suspect more will follow..

Mrs Prudent Darlington (leopard shoes and tweed bag) and Mrs Petronella MacDuff (tartan bag and knitted dress) and their pooches Floffy and George are waiting for their pre-lunch cocktails in the sunshine. SOLD

I have used finest Broadloom cotton, stuffed hard to get the right firmness. Fingernails and faces are embroidered and I have used an array of fabrics and trimmings for their outfits. These two party girls are my first standing dolls. I'm not too keen on doll stands so these two have weights in the base to help them stand - the need that support with all the champagne they plan to drink!

The happy party girl on the left has emigrated to sunny California. She is sold.

Please note that I love using all different kind of materials making my art dolls. The materials inspire me. I also enjoy reusing and I never fling anything away. I often use real fur in the clothing or as hair but it is ALWAYS taken from hats or collars I find in antique shops and NEVER new.
